Holding pattern

as the doctors put it, we were "walking a fine line" Monday night, and they even raised the possibility of having to do another surgery to relieve Cora's abdominal pressure and intubate her to better manage her breathing and pain. Thankfully we haven't had to go that route. The doctors have been administering a balance of drugs to keep her organs hydrated but also keep her clearing fluids; to manage pain but keep from slowing down her gut or her breathing; and most importantly, to get that peritoneal infection to start responding. Cora's belly is still pretty distended as of this post and she is still requiring lots of drugs for pain management. On the plus side, her heart rate and central venous pressure are stable, and her labs also indicate that the acidosis is no longer a threat. Rob is going to work tomorrow, and assuming things remain stable tonight, grammie will also be going home to Visalia tomorrow morning, so Molly welcomes visitors! Don't hesitate to call (cell) or email; many of you worry you are "bothering" us...don't worry -- if we can't talk on the phone at the moment, we just let the voicemail pick up, so just leave a message.

In other news, the appraisal on the house in Placerville went well, so the only thing standing between us and home ownership is escrow. Scary! We are looking forward to lots of good times with our girl in our new home. She is sleeping peacefully at the moment (thank you Fentanyl!). So are Rob and grammie :)
