Hi all. It's been a rough two days since Cora was extubated on Saturday. She's been crying non-stop, partly due to coming off of the morphine and other pain drugs, partly due to gas buildup, and partly due to being hungry/wanting to nurse. So she hasn't slept more than an hour or two here and there and is generally in a pretty upset state, which means Rob and I are also not sleeping and in a pretty upset state. It's really difficult to be unable to give your child the most basic of needs - food - and furthermore unable to explain why you're witholding that from her as you try to comfort her. But one bright spot...she pooped! We get very excited about poop around here (see commemorative photo), and this is her first bowel movement since surgery. Hopefully this is a step in the right direction toward feeding, and hopefully it makes her belly feel a little bit relieved too. -Molly

Great picture Molly! Go Cora...keep on poopin'
Someday Cora may be pleased you put the black rectangle on her private parts, but perhaps not that you showed the world her poop. Hope fervently that her progress continues
