Update

Well, there are a bunch of pictures posted for folks below and not a whole lot of "update," but now that we're figuring out this blogging thing, hopefully there'll be some more to come. Bottom line -- Cora was born on April 3rd at 2:16 am (who won the lab pool?). She was 7lbs, 3oz, 19 inches long, with a full head of brown hair, and 3 weeks early! Molly labored at home all day/night Thursday and was still packing her hospital bag as we were leaving for the hospital. When we arrived, she was 9cm dilated and baby Cora came just an hour later!

Cora required surgery on her small intestine following delivery, something we were aware of from our prenatal ultrasounds. The surgery went well, and we have been camped out at the hospital, spending time with Cora and tracking her recovery progress. We have been anxiously awaiting to see when the fluid they are draining out of her stomach drains clear and when she is able to have her own bowel movements - two signs that the surgery worked and milestones she needs to meet before they will take her off IV feeding and allow her to receive breast milk.

Pumping milk every 2-3 hours (Molly) and visiting Cora several times a day in the NICU amazingly consume the entire day and good portion of the evenings. It's been a lot of ups and downs and quite stressful, but we are so grateful to have the support and prayers of friends and family -- thank you all so much. And a special thanks to our brother-in-law Chuck and sister Amy for loaning us their trailer so we can camp out here at the parking lot of Sutter Memorial in Sacramento. It has been SO great to be here on site, instead of driving back and forth to Davis several times a day - you guys are awesome, and have given us the gift of extra time with our daughter! We are actually adapting nicely to trailer life...this may be our new solution for becoming homeowners :)
